Moving Madness

We have had a crazy last 2 weeks! Here is a brief recap to catch you up.

The movers were scheduled at 8 am on the 17th. They did not get to our house until 9 pm. I had packed up every single thing earlier that morning. To say I had one cranky baby would be a huge understatement.

We got a hotel that night since it was too late to start driving and got up at 6 the next morning to hit the road. Michael ended up driving the whole way without stopping. We got in Houston at 2 am Sunday morning. Such a long car ride but Kane was amazing!

Michael took his 2 day Step 3 test.

We celebrated father's day and Michael's 29th birthday the following day.

Michael's mom celebrated her 55th birthday with us at Tiny Boxwoods.

My brother broke his femur in 2 places and his proximal tibia. We all rushed to the hospital for his emergency surgery.

I broke my big toe. I am keeping my fingers crossed that my toe nail doesn't fall off. So disgusting.

Michael started his 2nd residency year! Bye bye intern year! We will not miss you!

The movers arrived with our stuff a week after leaving Cincinnati. Thank goodness I marked all the boxes and kept inventory because the "stickers" they claimed to have to separate the loads were all gone.

I had to leave during the middle of the movers unloading and found out the next day they forgot a few boxes and our file cabinet on their truck. They were already on their way out of state, but they turned around and delivered it a few days later.

The day before the movers were due to unload our stuff their truck broke down and delayed them.

I went to the grocery store to stock up our fridge and freezer before the movers arrived and found out the next day the fridge broke and every item I bought soured. Awesome! I love wasting $200!

Our AC went out last night at 9. Perfect timing since no one will be able to come out until Tuesday. Don't you love when stuff like that happens?

Despite the rocky last two weeks we are thrilled to be home and living in Houston. I forgot how much I love living in the city. Every store I love is literally just a few miles away from my doorstep. Pure bliss!

Yesterday morning we went to Lulu's house for a parade. It was so much fun!

So Long Cincinnati!

Moving day is tomorrow! We have gone back and forth with the mover so who knows what time we will actually pull out of Cincinnati. We hope to make it to Lulu's Saturday evening so I hope the mover is not too behind schedule.

I'm secretly hoping we see American Pickers out on the road! Michael and I adore that show!

Kane has been packing everything lately. He was even willing to toss his blanket into a box.

Adventures

Kane and I made a canvas American flag for the 4th of July. I got the idea on pinterest a few weeks back. It was a little difficult to do with a 19 month old by myself but so fun. It looks like his feet are missing toes!

One of our favorite things to do every morning is to go on mini adventures. I let Kane lead and decide where he wants to go and what he wants to do. Last week, we stumbled upon a construction site and K loved watching all the machines.

His new thing is collecting rocks... if you only knew how many rocks I pick up around the house on a daily basis. (left hand)

While I was packing the other day I noticed Kane was really quiet. Turns out he found the stickers, HA!

We took a little break from packing and got some ice cream. I hope I can find an ice cream shoppe close to our new house. I think they are so charming.

We tagged along with Michael and the other residents for part of their farewell dinner/movie last weekend. After dinner, when the guys walked next door to catch a movie I caught myself tearing up. Michael was really blessed with a great group of residents this past year. He has made wonderful friendships that I hope he is able to keep given the long distance and busy schedules that they all have ahead of them.

You know how I've said that Kane will not go to anyone? Well, he proved me so wrong! He loves Ben and reached for him as soon as we got there. Ben and his wife are trying to have a baby so Ben loved soaking up the attention. Ben told us anytime we wanted him to babysit he would... ummmm... we are leaving in 4 days. Wish we got the offer earlier!

Then he went to Matt when we sat down. Who is this child?

Our week

Here is a little recap of this past week with the Miranda family.

Michael brought home an ipad yesterday and was showing Kane different games on it. I was a little skeptical at first, but I think it will be a great help on our drive to Houston.

I am thinking about taking Kane to see Cars 2 when it comes out. Am I crazy? I don't have very high expectations that he can sit still for 2 hours but we shall see.
Pretty sure I will be the dorkiest mom in the theatre wearing a Cars shirt with my son!

We received the "Y" for Kane's alphabet wall. The big "A" and "Z" are going to be in Houston when we get there. I think I am more excited about putting his playroom together than any other room!

Kane and I were cleaning out closets the other day when we stumbled upon his jumperoo. We decided to take a break and put it back together for a good laugh. It warmed my heart to hear the music playing again... hint, hint Michael! We made Texas pop tarts. Yee Haw!

Packing has officially started. 24 days left and 7 more over night calls for my hubs. Music to my ears. We found out Michael will be post call the day we leave so we will get an early start out of this city! Well, if plans don't change with the movers. I have them scheduled to be here bright and early that morning but they can't guarantee anything. I hope they don't put a damper on things.

If you know me this shouldn't be a surprise... I have put together an exact list of what is in the boxes and what room they will go in. As soon as I get colored paper and markers each box will be color coded to match the list. I will make a copy of the list to the movers and we will take the original. The moving company we hired is a big company and they will have multiple loads/moves on one truck. I do not want one thing to go missing so I have to stay on top of it. I know they have their own system but you can never be too safe!

My boxes so far... they need labels, colors and tape.
The other night I made Kane fruit popsicles. I got the idea on pinterest and could not wait to try them out!

I believe he liked them because he would not give me one bite! How do you teach a 1year old to share?

what we've been up to

We are nearing the end to our year long stay in Cincinnati and we could not be happier. Kane and I have been busy packing, crafting and shopping!

For Kane's alphabet wall that i blogged about last week I ended up making a crayon "F".

I'm so pleased how it turned out. Kane keeps trying to pick the crayons off!

I have been wanting to get Kane a wire picture hanger for some time now and I think I finally found what I want at Ikea. If that doesn't clearly explain it to you check it out here. This is Kane's first picture that will be hanging.

Since joining Pinterest I have fallen in love with so many ideas. This is one of the first ideas I ever saw. It's all of our hand prints. I need to paint the frame and have my grandmother, who can do calligraphy, add our name. (and windex the glass)

I also saw this in a picture gallery. The start to our family. I think I am going to do a collage of pictures down our hallway. (again the frame will be painted... probably grey)

Now on to pictures of my favorite son. This was towards the end of our outside adventure.
